GSU’s Excellent Information Technology Degree

At GSU the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) offers students an extensive selection of exceptional programs that are taught by gifted professors, in small class-size settings.  Our undergraduates receive a high-quality education at the most affordable tuition rate of any four-year college in Illinois, and we do it without sacrificing any of the quality.

One of our outstanding programs at the CAS is the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree.  It offers challenging hands-on course work that includes topics that range from information security, digital forensics, virtualization, and cloud computing.  As the IT degree program is closely aligned with industry demands and career certifications you will be able to enhance your degree to meet specific career goals.  Information Technology crosses many disciplines from Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Health Information Systems, and Management Information Systems, providing opportunities to customize your degree.  If your plans include continuing on to graduate school, our program will prepare you to meet the challenges of advanced information technology studies as well as computer science and other related fields.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment prospects are strong as information security analysts jobs are expected to grow 37% (much faster than average) for the period of 2012-22.  The continued growth in cloud computing, cybersecurity, and mobile networks increases the demand for qualified professionals.  Furthermore, earning potential is high as the median annual wage for computer systems analysts was $86,170 in May 2012.

An IT degree from GSU will prepare you to work as a computer network administrator, computer system administrator, information security analyst, computer support specialist and an information security specialist.  Job settings include business, industry and government.

Please see the CAS website for full details and requirements of this and all of our other excellent programs.
